1/2 OZ Gold American Eagle ( Random years )
The 1/2 oz Gold American Eagle is a United States bullion coin containing one-half troy ounce of fine gold. First issued in 1986 by the U.S. Mint, it is struck in 22-karat gold (91.67% pure), with the remainder composed of silver and copper to enhance durability. Its total weight is slightly more than 0.5 troy ounces to account for the alloy metals, ensuring the full 1/2 oz of pure gold content.
The obverse features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ iconic design of Lady Liberty holding a torch and olive branch, with flowing hair and the U.S. Capitol building in the background. This classic image is adapted from the $20 Double Eagle gold coin originally minted in the early 20th century. The word "LIBERTY" arches over the top, and the year of issue is typically inscribed near the bottom.
